Children with a disability (and from different backgrounds) share universal rights with all people, and share the additional rights of all children as identified in the UN Convention on the rights of the child (UNICEF, 1990). The specific rights of children with a disability are expressed in the UN Convention on the rights of persons with disabilities (UN, 2006). Among other international statements, the UNESCO Salamanca statement (UNESCO, 1994) on inclusive education recognises the importance of inclusion of children with a disability in mainstream education.

The PlayConnect+ program is open to all children with disability and/or developmental concerns aged 0-6 years (school holiday programs available for 5-8-year-olds), their families, carers and siblings. No diagnosis is required. All sessions will be facilitated by qualified professionals. The PlayConnect+ program is a great way for families to connect, share knowledge, ideas, and have fun!
PlayTogether (Disability inclusion support)
At playgroup, we believe that everyone should feel they belong, regardless of their background, culture, gender or ability. Playgroups celebrate the differences and strengths of all children and families. PlayTogether is about acknowledging the individual needs of every child and caregiver, by creating a rich culture that identifies and sees to remove barriers to participation.

Inclusive Play kits
Over more than a decade we have acquired expertise in play for children with Autism. We have used this expertise to develop play kits designed to support children with ASD or similar traits, to play and socialise. The kits contain communication resources and play activities to help scaffold children’s play and learning. These subsided kits are available for sale. Mentoring support for play leaders is available in certain regions.
To learn more about these kits, or to purchase one for your group, please phone 1800 171 882.
