Grants and fundraising
There are financial opportunities available to help your playgroup flourish!
Local Government Grants
Local councils throughout Victoria offer community grants each year and many Playgroups have successfully applied for these grants. Councils may offer small grants to Playgroups. These are often advertised in the local papers, council websites and give directions as to how to apply.
Playgroup Victoria often advertise grants that are available to Playgroups behind the Member login. If your Playgroup is not incorporated, Playgroup Victoria can provide you with an Auspice letter to support you in the grant application. This service is offered to Playgroup Victoria members. Playgroups receiving money from grants are responsible for using it according to the grants conditions and are accountable for all monies spent.

Playgroup Leader For a Day
We are proud to establish the Inclusive Playgroup Grant as part of our new initiative, Playgroup Leader for a Day. Playgroup welcomes people from all walks of life. We aim to support our playgroup community in multifaceted ways. Half of the money raised through Playgroup Leader for a Day will enable Playgroup Victoria to support those in need by providing inclusive play kits and resources. Our Inclusive Grants are designed to strengthen our inclusive nature by providing tailored resources for children with disabilities, children from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds and children from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
Local playgroups will be able to apply to Playgroup Victoria for a small grant to assist them. Playgroup Victoria will provide tip-sheets, play ideas and small inclusive play kits. Of the $500 raised during the Playgroup Leader for a Day initiative, $250 will go directly to your playgroup. The remaining $250 will contribute to the Playgroup Victoria Inclusive Playgroup Grant program. If you raise more than $500 your playgroup will receive 50 per cent and the other half will contribute to the grant program. We hope to raise $10,000 to provide Inclusive Grants to at least 20 playgroups.
There are ways for your playgroup to apply for a grant.
Most of the time, councils and other funding bodies will need the money to go to an incorporated organisation or one that is a registered charity. If your playgroup is registered with Playgroup Victoria, we can act as the Auspicing organisation when you apply. Contact us if you need Playgroup Victoria to Auspice your playgroup.
We are here to help!
