About VEYLDF

The VEYLDF has been produced by the Victorian Department of Education and Early Childhood Development (DEECD) to guide early childhood professionals in partnership with families to achieve common outcomes for all children aged birth to eight. Much of the VEYLDF's following elements are already core to Playgroup Victoria's approach:
  • Recognising parents as their child's first educator
  • Incorporating children's interests as triggers for play experiences
  • Respecting and reflecting cultural diversity
  • Respecting Aboriginal culture
  • Enhancing children's sense of place in our community
  • Setting up the environment to foster children's curiosity.

The VEYLDF is compatible with and  has the same outcomes as Belonging, Being and Becoming: The Early Years Learning Framework for Australia (Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations 2009) which are:

  • Children have a strong sense of identity (identity)
  • Children are connected with and contribute to their world (community)
  • Children have a strong sense of wellbeing (wellbeing)
  • Children are confident and involved learners (learning)
  • Children are effective communicators (communication).
