How Wodonga playgroup used Five Star training

How a Wodonga playgroup used Five Star Playgroup training

Belgrade Avenue Playgroup recently completed the Playgroup Victoria Five Star correspondence course making us now considered a Five Star Playgroup.

Issues raised by the modules were also discussed more broadly at our playgroup committee meetings, where positive changes could be considered and easily implemented into the playgroup.

As a result of doing the course, we have updated our information brochure, developed additional information sheets, produced welcome cards for new members and started a monthly playgroup newsletter. We have become involved as a group in local community events such as storytime at the public library, and art exhibitions. And we discussed and addressed safety issues within the centre.

Modules provided:

  • strategies for creating rosters for craft activities/play ideas to assist with members being involved and contributing to clean up after activities
  • an insight into expectations of parents and how they interact with their children and within the group
  • ideas on how to create better play spaces, how to involve children of various ages and stages of development with appropriate activities
  • ways to communication with non English speaking members, include a dad or grandparent and handle children's behavioural issues.

We sincerely thank Playgroup Victoria for all the wonderful Crayola gifts sent to our playgroup for completing each of the five modules. It was like Christmas all over again for the kids and they played with it all instantly!!

Thank you for our Five Star Playgroup certificate. We will proudly hang it up in our playgroup room.
